How Often Should I Visit the Dentist?

At One Smile Dental in Bastrop, we provide comprehensive care for your whole family. Dr. Collins and the rest of our knowledgeable staff work hard to teach our patients good preventive care habits. Brushing twice daily for two minutes each time and flossing each day can reduce or even eliminate many common dental conditions. Of course, regular visits to our office are also part of a good preventive care regimen – but how often do you need to visit?

Individualized Care

Of course, Dr. Collins is the only one who can truly tell you how many times you need to visit our office each year. We create individualized care plans for each of our patients depending on their dental goals, any hereditary issues, and their medical history.

Some folks who take excellent care of their teeth and are not susceptible to cavities may be able to get away with visiting our office only once each year. For others, such as those with a high risk for dental disease, Dr. Collins may want to see them every three or four months.

When In Doubt: Twice a Year

If you’re not sure about how often you need to see the dentist, then visiting twice a year is a good rule of thumb. This way, Dr. Collins can keep a regular eye on any problems or issues as they develop, allowing for manageable treatment.

Many dental conditions such as cavities, gum disease, and even oral cancer may not become visible or cause pain until they are in more advanced stages. This makes early detection and treatment incredibly important.

Additionally, patients taking advantage of our cosmetic dentistry services, like professional whitening or veneers, may need to see Dr. Collins more often so that he can check on your progress.

No matter your dental history or your dental health goals, we will work hard to create a personal plan for your care that gives you the smile you’ve always dreamed about. To schedule your next appointment or to ask our team any questions, call our office today at (512) 582-7970.
